Sustainability

Sustainability Statement

At Merit Technologies, we provide specialised offshore maintenance solutions using composite repair that extend the service life of critical oil and gas infrastructure by up to 15 years or more. This extension of the life-cycle of critical components provide an important contribution to the sustainability of sensitive energy infrastructure.

Our Sustainability contribution:

Resource Efficiency
Extending asset life reduces the need for manufacturing, transporting, and installing new components — avoiding significant carbon emissions associated with steel production and offshore construction.

Embodied Carbon Preservation
Utilizes the “embodied carbon” (CO₂ emitted during manufacturing) already locked in the existing equipment, avoiding the significant emissions from producing new replacements.

Minimised Environmental Impact
Our approach prevents unnecessary seabed disruption and reduces vessel and equipment mobilizations, limiting disturbance to marine ecosystems.

Responsible Energy Transition Support
By maintaining safe, reliable operations, we enable energy producers to responsibly optimise existing infrastructure while planning for future low-carbon investments.

Safety & Environmental Risk Mitigation
Proactive maintenance of corroded equipment prevents leaks and spills, which are major environmental disasters with devastating ecological and climate impacts by ensuring structural integrity, protecting workers and the marine environment

Economic Efficiency & Just Transition
Maximises the value of existing infrastructure investments and it supports jobs in inspection, engineering, and specialised maintenance – skills potentially transferable to future energy sectors (e.g., offshore wind maintenance).

Strategic ESG Alignment
Contributes to UN SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption), SDG 13 (Climate Action — emissions avoidance), and SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and supports a circular economy principles by maximising the useful life of critical infrastructure.
